Start ‘Em
QB-Derek Carr
Outside the must start top 5 quarterbacks the most intriguing one to start week 1 would be Derek Carr. He gets favorable match up against the New Orleans Saints who’s Defense was ranked 30th and below last season. They couldn’t stop the pass or run game. They look to be a little better this season, but expect this game to be a shootout.
Forecast: 275 yards 2-3 TD’s
RB- Spencer Ware
Spencer Ware could be a huge Week 1 play since the Chiefs aren’t rushing Jamaal Charles back. He looks to see the bulk of the workload against a terrible rush defense that the Chargers have. He can catch and run the ball, start him week one, his value will decrease after that.
Forecast 85 yards rushing 1 TD, 3-4 catches 30-40 yards.
WR-Golden Tate/ Marvin Jones
Calvin Johnson is gone and its up to these guys to divide the targets between them. They both are going up against a Colts passing defense that doesn’t even exist. One of these guys, if not both of them will have monster games.
Forecast for both: 80-90 yards 1 TD each
TE-Coby Fleener
He has been the talk of the TE world this off season since he signed that big contract with the Saints. The TE position in New Orleans has always been a favorite of Drew Brees. The Saints figure to be behind in a lot of games and will throw the ball more. This will be a shootout with Fleener finding the End-zone.
Forecast: 60 yards 1 TD
Sit ‘Em
QB-Cam Newton
Yes, we will get heat for this, BUT he’s going up against the best Defense in the NFL. Remember what happened in the Super Bowl? Cam will have a better game then that, but he will make mistakes against this blitz happy defense.
Forecast: 200 yards 1TD, 2 INT’s
RB- Thomas Rawls
Sit him because of the time share. They will ease him back into the mix week 1 before he takes off the rest of the year. This could be a similar situation to that of C.J. Anderson last year where he started off slow and then got red hot later in the season. Expect to see a 60/40 split between Rawls and Michael for week 1.
Forecast 60-70 yards rushing, 20 yards receiving
WR- AJ Green
Darrelle Revis- need we say more? This will be a tough match up for Green. Revis Island isn’t a place where you want to go. This game might end up being a shoot out with Dalton and Fitzpatrick, but we still don’t like the match up. He will still be productive, just won’t have the best week.
Forecast: 70 yards
TE- Jimmy Graham
He’s listed as the week 1 starter, but he may not even suit up. Remember how long Victor Cruz was hurt? This is a tough injury to come back from.
Forecast: Will not play
